Boston Organics is proud to offer the following add-on items to supplement your fruit and vegetable boxes. We are constantly expanding this selection, please check back for more items in the future.

Seasonal Items

Real Pickles is based in Montague, MA, and uses certified organic vegetables grown in Massachusetts and Vermont. It is one of a small handful of businesses in the United States producing raw, lactic acid fermented (or naturally fermented) pickles. This traditional pickling process went out of favor with the advent of industrial food production. Modern pickling methods, including use of vinegar (usually in place of fermentation) and pasteurization, produce a uniform, shelf stable product suitable to the needs of the large food corporations. Unfortunately, modern pickles do not offer the authentic flavor or health-promoting qualities of traditional pickles.

NEW: Dill Pickles

Traditional cucumber pickles, with fresh dill and garlic. These are real pickles: naturally fermented without vinegar. The perfect snack or sandwich accompaniment.

NEW: Sauerkraut

Authentic, fresh sauerkraut with a dash of dill and caraway.

NEW: Ginger Carrots

These colorful carrots have a wonderful gingery zing. Use as a topper with salads, bean dishes, or peanut noodles, or as a filling for spring rolls or nori rolls.

Pure Maple Syrup from Vermont back in stock!

We are offering organic grade B maple syrup from Dwight Miller Orchards in East Dummerston, VT. Grade B syrup has the strongest maple flavor and darkest hue; it’s delicious as a table syrup and works well in baked goods.

Nashoba Brook Bakery’s 100% Organic 7 Grain and Whole Wheat are two of their most popular whole grain loaves. The 7 Grain is a rich blend of wheat, flax, barley, oat, millet, corn and rye and slightly sweetened with dates. The Whole Wheat is made with a combination of whole wheat and germ restored flours. Both are offered in sliced half-deli loaves and artisan loaves. Created from a natural sourdough starter, each loaf is formed by hand and each loaf results from Nashoba’s own Slow Rise baking process.

Nashoba Brook does not use any preservatives or dough conditioners in their production. For more information about these products, visit Nashoba Brook Bakery online.

Dairy

cheeselogo-3372635Neighborly Farms is located in Randolph Center, Vermont. The family farm has been owned and operated as a dairy farm for more than 30 years by Rob and Linda Dimmick along with their three children Bobby, Bailey and Billy. The farm sits on 168 acres of land and contains cropland and grazing fields for the 48 Holsteins that produce the milk used to make Neighborly Farm cheese.

The cheeses are made with vegetable rennet and all of the cheeses except for the raw milk cheddar are pasteurized.

NEW: Organic Farmstead Jalepeno Monterey Jack
It’s hot but not overwhelming. A perfect marriage of spicy and creamy in this flavored Monterey Jack.

The product was sold in bulk to area markets and was then scooped out into smaller containers for sale to consumers.

Boston Organics is offering four varieties – Cinnamon Sugar, Sea Salted, Slightly Sweet and Chocolate in 9 oz recyclable glass jars.

Simple Food founder Eileen Moriarty of Newburyport, MA is not new to the soynut butter business. She co-founded Health Trip Foods, Inc., a soynut butter company started in 1996 in Concord, MA. Although Eileen developed the product during the late 90’s when soy was gaining popularity, her most dedicated customers were people with peanut allergies. She learned about this underserved group when customers would call to thank her for creating “the fifth food my child can eat”. By focusing on “peanut-free”, the company became a success and the soynut butter was sold at health food stores nationwide.
